God Answers Prayers

Today's Hike

Why hello there! How are you all doing today? This week has been great, successful, and super fun. I just got back from a fun hike up above where the church is. We went as a group of missionaries and just well had a fun time relaxing and being friends. This week was kinda a little hectic. They opened up a new area in my district so this week we have kinda been running all over the place helping them get things going and making sure they have supplies.

We have continued to see a lot of success this week in offering service to those around us. We have found multiple new people and helped many members and investigators and we truly are seeing success. So you know, this morning my companion told me something really sad. So for the last like 5 months I have been using this liquid detergent to wash my clothes. It wasnt till today that we realized that that was only fabric softener and not really a cleaner... Oh well.

Well this week we had quite a bit of success with investigators. I think my favorite story of the week was with a lady that we meet named Suzet. We went to go find somebody that we had contacted in the street and she wasnt there at her house, so we saw that the neightbor was outside, so we talked to her. At first she was just very nice and cordial and listened to us, but didnt really have a desire to learn anything about the Gospel. We offered to just leave her with a pamphelt, but even that she didnt want. I told her that our message is for her and that it was sent from God. I told her just to read the pamphlet and then just to follow the invitation that is at the back to pray to God and ask Him if this is what he wants of her in her life. Right at that moment she started to cry, and I was just a little confused, but I just continued and testified of how God answers our prayers and will guide us in our lives so that we will be in the path that he wants us to be. She started crying more and then said that that is what her question has been for these last few weeks. She has been having some hard times and has been trying to figure out what it is that God wants of her. She said that that was her answer and now knew how she could find out the will and desires of God for her. It was just really cool and we have plans to see her again this week.

The plans for the Easter concert are still going well. We are having two practices a week and it really is begining to sound really good. My favorite song is "He Sent His Son" from the primary songbook. I am doing it as a solo with Elder Mayo at piano and the other Elder Anderson and Violin. The word to this song are so beautiful and powerful I love the phrase

How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go?

He sent his Son to walk with men on earth, that we may know.

God really has and continues to provide for us so that we may know that path that we should go. Thanks to the beauty of the scriptures, prophets, and the incredible power of prayer God leads us daily and helps us on our paths. This reminds me of the scripture in 1 Nephi 15:11 "(And if ye shall) ask me in faith, believing that ye shall receive, with diligence in keeping my commandments, surely these things shall be made known unto you." As the scriptures teach us, "these things shall be made known" unto us, if we but do our part.

To finish off, I would like to share the last part of the song. I know that this is true and I know that we will have a better and happy life if we follow its precepts.

What does the Father ask of us? What do the scriptures say?
Have faith, have hope, live like his Son, help others on their way.
What does he ask? Live like his Son.

I know that this is the church and gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that we are on the right path. I hope all is well this week. Be good and safe and remember who you are.
